Big Ten men's basketball tournament guide
A look at the teams, the venue and things to do while in Indianapolis.


 

Conseco Fieldhouse, opened in 1999, recently played host to the Big Ten women's basketball tournament and the Indiana high school girls state finals. The arena is located at 125 S. Pennsylvania St. in Downtown Indianapolis.

The Big Ten men's basketball tournament runs from March 11-14 at Conseco Fieldhouse. Here's all you need to know if this annual league get-together is on your schedule:

In and around Indy

Downtown Indianapolis offers a myriad of entertainment and shopping opportunities. Conseco Fieldhouse is located within walking distance of Circle Centre Mall, the RCA Dome, White River State Park (which is home to the NCAA headquarters) and numerous restaurants and hotels. Broad Ripple, located about 6 miles northeast of Downtown, is known for its vibrant nightlife.

Location (enrollment): Champaign, Ill. (36,738).

Coach: Bruce Weber (22-5 in one season at Illinois; 125-59 in sixth season overall).

This season: 22-5, 13-3 in Big Ten, seeded No. 1 in the tournament.

First round: Bye into the quarterfinals; plays the Indiana-Ohio State winner on Friday at noon.

Odds against winning Big Ten: 5-2.
